Light, vivid and deep
An orange diamond’s colour description may include a modifying hue. Orange can appear with yellowish or brownish modifying hues, and these secondary colours become part of the description, helping to capture exactly how the stone looks.
Colour descriptions reflect the combined appearance rather than darkness alone. Hue, tone and saturation all contribute. A light orange, a vivid orange and a deep orange differ not only in how dark they are, but in the strength of the colour.
When you look at an orange diamond, read the full colour description and view the stone in even, natural light. The modifying words matter as much as the main colour. The shades in this guide are illustrative and are not grading samples.
