Warm shades, precise words
Brown encompasses a wide range of warm appearances, from pale, soft browns to deep, rich ones. Many carry modifying hues as well, such as a yellowish, orangy or pinkish influence.
Brown diamonds are often given evocative names in marketing, words chosen to suggest a particular appearance. These names can be charming, but they are not standardised. One brand’s description may not mean the same thing as another’s.
The exact laboratory description gives more precise information about the individual diamond. When you consider a brown diamond, look past the name and read the colour description on its report, then judge the stone itself in natural light. The shades shown here are illustrative and are not grading samples.
