A visual shade guide
Purple and pink sit close to one another in the world of coloured diamonds, and they can occur with modifying colour descriptions. A stone might be described as pinkish purple or purplish pink, with the order of the words helping to convey which colour leads.
The examples in this guide show a visual range, from lighter purples to deeper ones, to help you become familiar with the family and its vocabulary.
They are not a grading tool. These examples do not establish grade boundaries, and they do not establish colour origin. Both questions require a laboratory assessment, recorded on the diamond’s report. Use the illustrations to become familiar with the vocabulary, then compare the report with the actual stone.
